Know the home, know the fault
The settlement sits in the River Avon valley on the southern edge of Dartmoor, having grown from its origins as a woollen and market centre. Some local homes are highly historic, such as the manor house with its fifteenth-century sections. In older, uneven farmhouses, a freestanding wine cooler must be levelled correctly so the door seals shut perfectly. In modern fitted kitchens, built-in chillers need adequate ventilation at the plinth to stop the compressor overheating and failing prematurely. When a wine cooler fails to hold its set temperature, the issue might be a blocked condenser, a failing evaporator fan, or a faulty main control board. Dual-zone models rely on specific sensors and fans to keep red and white wines at different climates simultaneously. If one zone fails while the other works, a temperature sensor or a divider fan has usually stopped responding. Condensation and misting on the glass door point to a degraded magnetic seal. When warm room air leaks into the chilled cabinet, the cooling system runs continuously, which eventually wears out the internal components and increases energy use. All Appliance Care works on electric appliances only, so we do not repair gas cookers or any gas appliance. We repair washing machines, dishwashers, and ovens alongside refrigeration units.

Call 01752 922765Condensation and misting on the glass usually mean the magnetic door seal has degraded or split. When the seal fails, warm room air enters the chilled cabinet and meets the cold glass, creating moisture. Replacing the rubber gasket restores the airtight seal and stops the cooling system from overworking.
Dual-zone models use internal fans and separate temperature sensors to maintain two different climates. If one zone fails, a sensor might be sending incorrect readings to the control board, or a divider fan might have stopped circulating the cold air. Testing the sensors and fans reveals the faulty part.
A loud vibration is usually caused by the compressor or the internal circulation fans. If the appliance is not levelled correctly on the floor, the compressor mounts can rattle against the chassis. Alternatively, a failing fan motor bearing will create a continuous humming or grinding noise while the cooler runs.
