Know the home, know the fault

Today, the area is mainly residential, sitting within a protected rural landscape known for its natural beauty, alongside a small handful of businesses like pubs and small shops. In these older properties, kitchens are sometimes updated to include modern cooking appliances. A ceramic or induction hob is a popular choice when renovating, providing a flat surface that is easy to wipe down. However, when a cooking appliance stops working, preparing meals at home becomes difficult. When an electric or induction hob breaks down, the symptoms vary depending on the technology. On a standard ceramic model, a single zone that will not heat is usually caused by a failed heating element or a faulty energy regulator. Induction hobs use magnetic fields to heat the pan directly, and if they switch off unexpectedly or flash error codes, the issue is often related to the internal cooling fans or the main control board. Touch controls that do not respond can happen if moisture gets under the glass or if the user interface module fails. Another issue is a hob that trips the electrics, which points to a dead short somewhere in the wiring or a blown component. We only repair electric and induction cooking appliances, so we do not work on gas hobs. We look at zones or rings that will not heat up, investigate touch controls that do not respond, and diagnose error codes or hobs that switch off mid-cycle. If your appliance is tripping the electrics, we trace the internal wiring to find the short circuit.

Error codes on an induction hob indicate that the internal diagnostics have detected a fault. This might be a communication failure between the touch controls and the main power board, or an issue with the cooling fan underneath. We test the internal electronics to find out which component has failed.

If a single zone on a ceramic hob will not heat, the radiant element under the glass has likely burned out. Alternatively, the energy regulator switch that controls the power to that specific ring might be faulty. We check both the element and the switch to locate the break in the circuit.

Unresponsive touch controls can happen if the glass surface is wet or if a pan has boiled over, confusing the sensors. If drying the glass does not help, the user interface board beneath the surface may have failed. We inspect the control module and its wiring connections to resolve the issue.
