Know the home, know the fault

Ashburton sits on the south-southeastern edge of Dartmoor, right next to the A38. It began as a farming settlement built around a stream and has grown into the largest town within the national park. The area includes a large secondary school for pupils aged eleven to eighteen, as well as a culinary academy established to the north. In busy family homes, or properties where cooking is taken seriously, a dishwasher works hard to clear away daily plates, pots and pans. A sudden breakdown means returning to washing everything by hand at the sink, which takes up time that could be spent elsewhere. When a machine fails to clean properly, the spray arms might be blocked with food debris or the heating element could be faulty, leaving dishes wet and greasy at the end of a cycle. Draining faults are another issue, where dirty water is left sitting in the base of the cabinet. This happens if the drain pump is jammed by a stray piece of glass, or if the filters are heavily clogged. Leaks can develop from worn door seals, allowing water to escape onto the kitchen floor, while flashing error codes might stop the machine from starting a wash altogether. We travel up the A38 to fix dishwashers that will not drain, clean, heat or start in your home. During a visit, we look at draining faults, poor cleaning results, spray arm problems, heating failures, leaks and door seal issues. We also cover nearby places like Buckfastleigh. Please note that while we repair a wide range of electric kitchen equipment, we do not work on gas appliances.

Water left in the base points to a draining fault. The filter might be blocked with food waste, or the drain pump could be jammed by a small object like a fruit pip or broken glass. We look at the pump, filters and drain hose to find out why the machine will not empty.

If your dishes are coming out wet and poorly cleaned, the machine is likely struggling to heat the water. A faulty heating element or a broken temperature sensor will stop the wash reaching the right temperature. We check these heating components, as well as the spray arms, to resolve poor cleaning results.

A leak from the front of the machine can be caused by a damaged or worn door seal. Over time, the rubber gasket can split or lose its shape, allowing water to escape during a cycle. We inspect the door seals, hinges and the lower spray arm to locate the source of the leak.
