Know the home, know the fault

With a sizable secondary school educating pupils up to the age of eighteen, many households in the biggest town inside the national park boundaries generate a substantial amount of laundry. A tumble dryer is heavily relied upon to manage school uniforms, sports kits and daily clothing. When a dryer breaks down, the backlog of wet washing builds up quickly in utility rooms and kitchens. Dryers that run but fail to produce heat usually have a tripped thermostat or a failed heating element at the back of the machine. If the drum will not turn while the motor can be heard humming, the drive belt has likely snapped and needs replacing. Condenser models rely on a small pump to move extracted moisture up to the water container, and blockages in this system will stop a cycle before it finishes. Noisy running can indicate worn support rollers, failing drum bearings or a damaged tension pulley. A machine that refuses to start at all might have a faulty door switch, a blown thermal fuse or a problem with the main control board. We travel along the nearby major route to repair appliances in customers' homes, heading out to surrounding places like Buckfastleigh as well. During a tumble dryer visit, we look at machines that run but do not heat, drums that will not turn, and condenser or water container faults. We also investigate dryers that stop mid-cycle or will not start, along with any noisy running issues. We handle all repairs directly in your home.

A dryer that tumbles without heating usually has a problem with its heating element or a tripped thermal overload switch. The thermostats monitor the internal temperature, and if they fail, the machine will blow cold air. We look at dryers that run but do not heat to identify which component has failed.

When a drum will not turn but you can still hear the motor running, the drive belt has almost certainly snapped or slipped off the pulley. If the motor makes no sound at all, the motor capacitor or the motor itself might be faulty. We repair these faults in your home.

Condenser dryers will stop mid-cycle if the water container is full or if the pump that moves the water up to the drawer is blocked. Fluff can accumulate in the condenser unit or the pump chamber, triggering a sensor that halts the machine. We investigate condenser and water container faults.
