Know the home, know the fault

A settlement that began as a farming community around a stream has grown into the largest town within the national park. With a culinary academy located in the north of the area, local residents might be inspired to spend more time baking and roasting. Heavy use of an electric oven in a busy household puts extra strain on internal heating elements, door hinges, and glass panels. When an electric oven fails to heat up, the main fan element is usually the part at fault. The fan blade itself might still spin, circulating cold air around the cavity, which ruins a meal. Uneven cooking is another issue, sometimes caused by a failing thermostat that cannot accurately read or maintain the correct temperature. If the appliance trips the household electrics as soon as it is switched on, the insulation inside a heating element has likely broken down. Worn door seals and hinges let heat escape, forcing the oven to work harder and increasing cooking times. During a visit, we look at ovens that will not heat or only heat on certain functions, as well as those that trip the power. We check faulty thermostats, controls, clocks, and inspect door hinges, seals, and glass. Our repair service covers electric and induction cooking appliances only, so we do not work on gas cookers or gas hobs.

This happens when the circular heating element surrounding the fan fails. The motor continues to turn the fan blade, but the element cannot generate heat. The oven will blow cold air around the cavity. Replacing the faulty element restores the heat and allows the appliance to cook food properly again.

An oven will trip the electrics if a component develops an earth fault. This is usually caused by the internal insulation of a heating element breaking down, allowing electrical current to leak. The household safety switches detect this leak and cut the power to prevent damage or injury.

A worn door seal allows hot air to escape from the oven cavity. You might notice condensation building up on the control panel or the kitchen units getting unusually warm. The oven will also struggle to maintain its temperature, leading to uneven cooking results and longer baking times for your meals.
