Know the home, know the fault

Located in the Teignbridge district, Kingsteignton is positioned at the top of the Teign Estuary just west of Teignmouth. In busy family homes, particularly those with older teenage students attending Teign School, a dishwasher runs daily to manage the constant volume of plates, mugs and cutlery. A sudden breakdown disrupts the daily kitchen routine, leaving piles of washing up stacked on the worktops and draining boards. When a machine fails to drain, dirty water is left sitting in the base filter area at the end of a cycle. This happens if food debris blocks the drain pump impeller or the waste hose gets kinked behind the kitchen units. Poor cleaning results and dishes left wet point to heating faults, where the internal element stops warming the water to the correct temperature for dissolving grease. Spray arm problems also leave food on plates, usually because the small jet holes are clogged with pips or grit. Leaks can develop around the front panel if the rubber door seal splits or perishes over time, while a faulty door latch will stop the machine from starting entirely. We travel to properties across the area, including homes near Golvers Hill, to repair dishwashers that will not drain, clean, heat or start. We look at machines displaying error codes, leaking onto the floor, or failing to complete a wash programme. While at your property, we can also look at other kitchen equipment like washing machines, tumble dryers, electric ovens and fridge freezers, though we do not work on gas cookers or any gas appliances.

Water left in the base filter area means the machine is failing to drain. This happens if food debris blocks the drain pump impeller or if the waste hose is kinked behind the kitchen units. A faulty pump motor will also stop the water from clearing at the end of a cycle.

Dishes left wet at the end of a cycle usually point to a heating fault. The internal element must warm the water to the correct temperature to clean effectively and help the load dry through residual heat. If the element or the main control board fails, the machine washes with cold water.

Leaks around the front panel occur when the rubber door seal splits, perishes or becomes coated in grease over time. A damaged lower door seal will allow water to escape onto the kitchen floor during the wash cycle. Blocked spray arms can also force water sideways against the door edges.
