Know the home, know the fault
Residential properties in Brixham vary considerably in age and style. The narrow streets near the harbour feature small terraced cottages built during or before the nineteenth century. The inland area of the town historically relied on farming and agriculture, and residential properties located further inland generally date from the nineteen thirties to the nineteen seventies. Fitting a large electric range cooker into an older cottage kitchen requires exact measurement of the available width, whereas mid-century and modern properties tend to offer wider spaces for these heavy, multi-cavity appliances. Because electric range cookers have independent circuits, a failure in one section leaves the rest of the appliance functioning. A broken fan oven element will leave the main oven blowing cold air, even though the secondary oven and the separate grill cavity still work normally. Hob faults involve individual cooking zones failing to heat due to a faulty energy regulator, a damaged induction module, or a broken control switch. As these large appliances draw significant electrical current, a degraded heating element or a compromised selector switch will trip the household electrics when that specific function is selected. We repair electric and induction cooking appliances only, and do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs or any gas appliance. When attending a faulty electric range cooker, we look at main or secondary ovens not heating, grill and hob faults, controls, fans and thermostats, alongside range cookers that trip the electrics. We repair appliances in customers' homes, inspecting the internal components to identify the electrical or mechanical failure.

Call 01752 922765This happens when an internal component develops an electrical fault and shorts to earth. On an electric range cooker, the most likely cause is a degraded heating element in the main oven or grill. Faulty selector switches, damaged wiring, or a failing cooling fan can also trip the household electrics.
If the fan is spinning and the thermostat light comes on but there is no heat, the fan oven element has likely failed. Range cookers use separate elements for different cavities, so the secondary oven and grill will continue to work. The broken element needs to be removed and replaced.
Yes, we repair electric and induction cooking appliances, including the induction zones on range cookers. Induction hobs can suffer from failed power modules, broken user interface boards, or faulty cooling fans beneath the glass. We do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs, or any gas appliance.
