Know the home, know the fault
The housing stock along the north bank of the River Teign estuary mouth reflects a long history of change. In holiday lets and permanent residences alike, an electric range cooker is a substantial kitchen centrepiece. These large appliances bring multiple ovens and expansive cooking zones together in one unit, which means they handle a heavy workload when preparing meals for large families or visiting groups. When a multi-cavity cooker develops a fault, it can disrupt meal preparation entirely. A main or secondary oven failing to heat up usually points to a blown fan element or a faulty thermostat. If the appliance trips the household electrics, the cause is frequently an earth leak from a degraded heating element or moisture getting into the internal wiring. On the top section, electric and induction hob zones might stop responding due to failed energy regulators or issues with the main control board. Grill elements can also warp or burn out over time, while noisy cooling fans might indicate worn bearings that need attention. Whether your property is near Shaldon Bridge or further inland, we repair electric range cookers in your home. We look at main or secondary ovens not heating, grill and hob faults, unresponsive controls, noisy fans, faulty thermostats, and range cookers that trip the electrics. Please note that we only repair electric and induction cooking appliances, so we do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs, or any gas appliance.

Call 01752 922765This happens when an electrical component develops an earth fault. The most likely culprit is a degraded heating element in the main oven, secondary oven, or grill. As elements age, their internal insulation breaks down, allowing current to leak to earth. A faulty selector switch or damaged internal wiring can also cause the circuit breaker to trip.
If the fan is spinning and the indicator light is on but there is no heat, the fan element has likely failed. The element surrounds the fan blade at the back of the cavity and can burn out over time. Alternatively, the oven thermostat might be faulty, preventing the element from receiving power to heat the cavity.
Induction hobs require compatible pans with magnetic bases to activate the cooking zones. If the pans are correct, the fault might lie with the hob control board or the induction generator itself. Sometimes, a simple reset at the main isolator switch can resolve temporary electronic glitches, but persistent issues require an internal inspection of the hob components.
