Know the home, know the fault
With holiday homes here dating back to the eighteenth century, many properties are rented out as holiday lets. In these environments, a tumble dryer can endure intense bursts of use. Guests frequently wash heavy loads of towels and bedding, and unfamiliarity with a specific machine can mean lint filters are left unemptied between cycles. When a dryer runs but does not heat, the cause is generally a tripped thermal overload or a failed heating element, sometimes triggered by restricted airflow from a blocked filter. If the drum will not turn while the motor hums, the drive belt has likely snapped or the motor capacitor has failed. Machines that stop mid-cycle or will not start at all might be suffering from a faulty door switch or a full water container. Condenser models rely on a pump to move moisture to the tank, and if this blocks, the cycle halts. Noisy running usually points to worn drum support rollers, a degraded tension pulley, or worn bearings. Whether a machine is in a holiday let near Batson or a permanent residence, we repair appliances in customers' homes. We look at dryers that run but do not heat, drums that will not turn, and units that stop mid-cycle or will not start. Our visits also cover condenser and water container faults, alongside noisy running. We also repair washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, freezers, and electric cooking appliances, though we do not work on gas cookers or any gas appliance.

Call 01752 922765A dryer that turns but stays cold usually has a tripped thermal overload thermostat or a blown heating element. This happens when airflow is restricted, causing the internal temperature to rise too high. A blocked lint filter or a clogged condenser unit will trigger this safety mechanism to prevent damage.
If you can hear the motor running but the drum remains still, the drive belt has almost certainly snapped. Overloading the machine with heavy, wet towels puts excessive strain on the belt. Alternatively, if the motor only hums and struggles to start, the motor start capacitor may have failed.
Condenser dryers will halt mid-cycle if the water collection container is full. A microswitch detects the water level and stops the machine to prevent flooding. If the tank is empty but the machine still stops, the pump that moves water from the base to the container might be blocked.
