Know the home, know the fault

Properties around Church Street, Winner Street and Palace Avenue feature fine examples of Victorian architecture, while other areas provide a wide variety of holiday accommodation for visiting tourists. In older houses, a wine cooler might be fitted into a freestanding kitchen arrangement or a dining room alcove, whereas modernised holiday lets on the coast of Tor Bay might have them built under the counter. Wherever the appliance is located, it needs adequate ventilation to function correctly. A cooler pushed too tightly into a narrow alcove or a poorly ventilated cabinet will struggle to dissipate heat, forcing the compressor to work harder to maintain the set temperature. When a wine chiller fails to hold its temperature, the issue is sometimes a faulty thermostat or a failing compressor relay. Dual-zone models can develop a fault where one zone fails while the other continues to cool, which points to a broken divider fan, a stuck damper or a malfunctioning control board. Condensation and misting on the glass door indicate a degraded door seal letting ambient air inside, though it can also be caused by an internal circulation fan failing to move cold air around the cabinet. Control faults might leave the display unresponsive or flashing error codes, preventing the appliance from regulating the internal climate. Whether the appliance is in a Victorian property or a house on the Hookhills estate, we repair wine coolers in your home. During a visit, we look at coolers not holding the set temperature, investigate dual-zone models with one zone failing, and resolve condensation and misting on the door alongside fan and control faults. Please note that while we repair electric kitchen equipment, we do not work on gas appliances.

Condensation and misting on the door happen when ambient air enters the chilled cabinet. This is sometimes caused by a degraded or split magnetic door seal. If the seal is intact, an internal circulation fan might be failing, which stops cold air from moving around the cabinet properly and allows moisture to settle on the glass.

Dual-zone models use a system of fans and dampers to distribute cold air between the different compartments. When one zone fails while the other continues to hold its temperature, the fault points to a broken divider fan, a stuck damper flap, or a malfunctioning control board failing to send the correct signals to the cooling components.

Coolers not holding the set temperature can suffer from a few different component failures. A faulty thermostat might fail to detect the internal climate, or a failing compressor relay could prevent the cooling system from starting. Blocked ventilation around the appliance can also cause the compressor to overheat and shut down before reaching the target temperature.
