Know the home, know the fault
The area around Bodmin is mostly urban and stands as one of the oldest settlements in Cornwall, recorded back in the Domesday Book. In historic properties, kitchens might be compact or have uneven solid floors, which can affect how a freestanding wine cooler sits. If the appliance is not perfectly level, the door seal might not close flush against the main cabinet. When a wine chiller door does not seal properly, warmer ambient air enters the cabinet. This leads to condensation and misting on the glass door, forcing the compressor to work harder to maintain the set temperature. Dual-zone models can develop specific issues where one section fails to cool while the other remains at the correct temperature. This is sometimes caused by a faulty fan failing to circulate the chilled air, or a control board issue misreading the internal temperature sensors. If the internal fans become blocked by dust or fail completely, the appliance will struggle to hold the required temperature for storing your bottles. During a visit for a wine cooler repair, we look at the control settings, inspect the door seals for gaps, and check the internal fans and compressor components. Please note that while we repair a wide range of electric kitchen equipment, including electric ovens and induction hobs, we do not work on gas cookers or any gas appliance.

Call 01752 922765Condensation usually forms when warm air enters the chilled cabinet. This happens if the door is left open, or if the magnetic door seal is torn or distorted. Check that the appliance is level, as an uneven floor can twist the cabinet slightly and prevent the door from closing flush against the frame.
Dual-zone models use separate sensors and sometimes separate fans to manage the different temperature areas. If one zone fails while the other works, it points to a localized fault. A circulation fan might have failed, or a temperature sensor could be sending incorrect readings to the main control board.
A wine cooler will struggle to hold its temperature if the condenser coils at the back are covered in heavy dust, restricting airflow. It can also happen if the internal circulation fans fail, or if the compressor itself develops a fault. During a repair visit, we test the fans, sensors and control boards to identify the issue.
