Know the home, know the fault

A large student population and active military personnel living in the area mean many properties see heavy use of domestic appliances. Shared housing or busy family homes in the low density suburban estates built after the Second World War put a significant load on a dishwasher. In the newer eastern settlements being developed, such as Sherford, modern fitted kitchens usually integrate these machines behind cabinet doors. Whether a property is a nineteen fifties prefabricated build or a recent construction, a dishwasher running multiple cycles a day will eventually wear out its moving parts. When a machine fails to clean properly, the issue might be a blocked spray arm or a failing circulation pump that cannot push water through the jets. If dishes come out wet and cold, the heating element or its control relay has likely stopped working. Water left pooling in the base at the end of a cycle points to a draining fault, which could be a blocked filter, an obstructed drain hose, or a jammed drain pump. Leaks around the front of the cabinet usually indicate a degraded door seal, while a machine that refuses to start entirely might be displaying an error code related to a faulty door latch or main control board. We check for draining faults and water left in the base, investigate poor cleaning results and spray arm problems, and test for heating faults that leave dishes wet. We also examine leaks and door seal problems, and diagnose error codes on machines that will not start. We repair appliances directly in your home.

Water pooling in the base usually means the machine cannot drain. This happens when food debris blocks the sump filter, or if the drain pump gets jammed by a hard object like a fruit pip or broken glass. We check the filters, clear the pump, and inspect the drain hose for blockages.

If your dishes are not drying, the dishwasher is likely not heating the water during the cycle. This points to a failure in the main heating element, a faulty thermostat, or a broken relay on the control board. We test these electrical components during our visit to identify which part has failed.

Leaks from the front of the machine are usually caused by a damaged or degraded door seal. Over time, the rubber gasket perishes or gets torn by sliding the lower basket in and out. Another possibility is a blocked lower spray arm forcing water directly against the door edge.
