Know the home, know the fault
The housing landscape along the south coast between the rivers Plym and Tamar includes everything from nineteen fifties prefabricated properties to widespread low density suburban homes built after the Second World War. A significant student population and active military personnel living near the naval base mean many properties rely on a single machine for both washing and drying. A combined washer dryer saves space in a kitchen or utility area, but it works hard to handle the laundry needs of a busy household. When a single appliance is responsible for both cleaning and drying clothes, a breakdown disrupts the entire laundry routine. These machines are complex because they pack two different functions into one cabinet. A washing fault might leave the drum refusing to fill, drain or spin, while drying failures can result in clothes remaining damp or cycles that never seem to finish. The drying system relies on a heater element and a fan to circulate warm air, along with a condenser chamber to remove moisture. If lint builds up inside the condenser or the fan fails, the machine will produce no heat or struggle to dry the load. Leaks are another issue, sometimes originating from a degraded door seal or a blocked drain pump. Control board faults can also trigger error codes that stop the machine from operating entirely. Because Plymouth is our home base, travelling to repair a washer dryer in areas like Plympton takes very little time. We investigate the exact symptoms your appliance is showing. We check the heater, fan and condenser for drying faults, and inspect the pump, valves and motor brushes if the machine is failing to wash, drain or spin. We also trace leaks back to their source and test the electronic controls to clear error codes.

Call 01752 922765A washer dryer uses a condenser system to remove moisture from the drum during the drying cycle. If lint blocks the condenser chamber or the fan fails to circulate air, the machine cannot extract water from your laundry. A failed heating element will also leave clothes wet and cold.
The most direct cause of a draining failure is a blockage in the pump filter, which catches coins, hair and lint before they reach the drain pump. If the filter is clear, the pump itself might have a jammed impeller or a failed motor, preventing the water from escaping.
Front leaks usually originate from the rubber door seal. Over time, the seal can degrade, tear, or become distorted by overloaded washing cycles. Sometimes, a small item like a zip or a button gets trapped between the glass door and the rubber, breaking the watertight seal during the wash.
