Know the home, know the fault
Properties built on the steep landscape that rises from the River Kensey up towards the castle include older housing stock, such as Georgian houses. The town sits in a predominantly rural setting and supports the surrounding agricultural economy. In these older properties, kitchens might have limited worktop space, leading to built-in or combination microwaves being integrated into the cabinetry to keep surfaces clear. When a built-in unit stops working, it is not as simple to unplug and replace as a standard freestanding model, making an in-home repair visit a practical step. A combination microwave that runs but does not heat requires investigation of the internal high-voltage components, such as the magnetron, the capacitor or the diode. Turntables that will not turn point towards a failed synchronous motor located beneath the cavity floor, or a broken plastic drive coupling. Door latch and switch faults can prevent the appliance from starting entirely, as the safety interlocks must engage fully before power is supplied to the heating elements. Controls and displays on built-in models can also fail, leaving the unit completely unresponsive to button presses or showing a blank screen. During a visit, we look at built-in and combination microwaves that will not heat or turn, diagnosing the internal components directly in your kitchen. We examine door latches, switch faults, and unresponsive controls to find out why the appliance has stopped working. We carry out the repair work in your home. Please note that our cooking appliance repairs are electric and induction only, and we do not work on any gas appliances.

Call 01752 922765When a microwave sounds like it is running normally but the food remains cold, the fault is usually within the high-voltage circuit. This involves components like the magnetron, high-voltage diode, or capacitor. These parts generate the microwave energy required for heating, and a failure in any of them will stop the cooking process.
A turntable that will not turn is typically caused by a failed synchronous motor located under the floor of the microwave cavity. Alternatively, the plastic drive coupling that connects the motor to the glass tray might be cracked or broken. We can inspect these parts during a repair visit.
This happens when the door latch or the internal microswitches fail to register that the door is shut. Microwaves have multiple safety interlock switches that must engage before the control board will supply power. If a switch is faulty or a plastic latch hook is broken, the appliance will not start.
