Know the home, know the fault
Properties around the centre retain many buildings from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, where utility space can be tight. In these older homes, a combined washer dryer is a practical choice when there is no room for two separate machines. A machine in a holiday let works hard during the summer season, while family homes with children attending the large secondary school rely on their appliances for daily laundry. When a combined machine develops a fault, it disrupts both washing and drying routines. Drying failures happen when the heater element stops working, leaving clothes damp, or when blocked condenser chambers cause cycles that never finish. Washing faults include the drum failing to spin, water not draining, or the machine refusing to fill at the start of a cycle. Leaks can appear from a damaged door seal, which degrades over time through contact with zips and buttons. Control faults might stop the appliance from switching between washing and drying phases, or present as error codes on the digital display. During a visit, we look at the heating system, the drain pump, the motor and the electronic control board to find out why the machine has stopped working. We check for blockages in the drying circuit, test the fill valves and inspect the door seal for tears. We also repair tumble dryers, washing machines and electric cooking appliances, though we do not work on gas.

Call 01752 922765This happens when the drying heater element fails or a thermal thermostat trips. The machine completes the wash cycle normally but blows cold air during the drying phase, leaving your laundry wet. We inspect the heating circuit and the fan assembly to locate the broken component.
A machine will refuse to spin or finish its cycle if it cannot drain the water first. This is usually caused by a blockage in the drain filter or a faulty drain pump. We check the pump mechanism and clear any obstructions from the drainage hoses.
Front leaks usually come from a damaged rubber door seal. The seal can be torn by metal zips, coins or keys left in pockets, allowing water to escape down the front panel. We look for holes in the gasket and check that the door hinge is aligned correctly.
