Properties around this natural harbour range from primary residences to secondary homes and holiday accommodation, which account for a significant portion of the local economy. An electric range cooker is a substantial unit that handles heavy use, especially in holiday lets where different guests cook for large groups. These cookers rely entirely on electrical components, as we do not work on gas cookers or gas hobs. When a large cooking unit develops a fault, it usually isolates to a specific section. If the main or secondary oven stops heating while the indicator lights stay on, the fan element has likely failed. Grill and hob faults can stem from degraded heating zones or faulty energy regulators behind the control knobs. Thermostats control the internal temperature, and when these drift out of calibration, food burns or remains undercooked. Sometimes, an internal component degrades and creates a short circuit to earth, which causes the appliance to trip the household electrics as soon as a particular function is selected. Whether a repair is needed near the town centre or across the water in Polruan, we test the appliance directly in your home. Our visits cover checking main and secondary ovens that fail to heat, inspecting controls and cooling fans, and testing thermostats. We also trace electrical faults when a range cooker trips the circuit breakers, examining the internal wiring, selector switches and heating elements to locate the exact point of failure.

Call 01752 922765This happens when an electrical component creates a short circuit to earth. The issue is usually a split casing on a heating element in the main oven, secondary oven or grill. We test the internal wiring, selector switches and elements with a multimeter to find the fault.
If the fan spins and the indicator lights illuminate but the oven remains cold, the fan element has likely failed. The element wire degrades over time and eventually breaks, stopping the heat. We inspect the element, the thermostat and the thermal cut-out to identify which part needs replacing.
Flashing indicators on an induction hob usually mean the pan is not recognised. This happens if the cookware is not magnetic or is too small for the cooking zone. If the correct pans are used and the lights still flash, there may be a fault with the internal control board or sensors.
