Know the home, know the fault
Older, larger homes tend to have generous kitchen spaces where an electric range cooker fits well. The area also has several bed-and-breakfasts serving walkers and visitors to National Trust properties. In a guest house setting, a large multi-cavity cooker does a lot of work preparing morning meals. When a primary cooking appliance breaks down in a busy household or a working bed-and-breakfast, getting it functioning again is a priority. A heavy-duty appliance with multiple heating zones has several components that can fail. If the main or secondary oven stops heating but the indicator lights still come on, the fan element has likely failed. When the oven overheats and burns food, the thermostat is failing to regulate the temperature correctly. Range cookers that trip the electrics present a different challenge. This happens when a component, such as a grill element or a selector switch, develops an earth fault. Hob faults on electric models might involve a ceramic zone that refuses to heat up or an induction ring that fails to recognise pans. We look at all these issues, alongside faulty cooling fans and worn control knobs. We travel across the area, including out towards Roborough Down, to repair appliances in customers' homes. Our visits cover electric range cookers with oven, grill or hob faults, checking everything from thermostats to wiring. We only repair electric and induction cooking appliances, so we do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs or any gas appliance.

Call 01752 922765This happens when a component develops an earth fault, causing the circuit breaker to trip for safety. On an electric range cooker, the fault could be in the main oven element, the grill, or a selector switch. We test the internal wiring and individual components to locate the electrical fault.
An induction zone requires a compatible magnetic pan to complete the circuit. If the pan is correct but the ring still fails to activate, the issue might be a faulty sensor or a damaged induction module beneath the glass. We dismantle the hob section to inspect the internal electronics.
When an electric oven blows cold air while the fan runs and the thermostat light is on, the heating element surrounding the fan has broken down internally. This stops it from generating heat, even though the controls appear to be working. Replacing the faulty element restores the correct temperature.
