Know the home, know the fault

Living near the edge of Bodmin Moor means drying laundry outside is not always an option, making a working tumble dryer an important household appliance. Whether a dryer is installed in a modern kitchen or a utility space in an older property, it requires good airflow to function correctly. Restricted ventilation causes a machine to overheat or struggle to remove moisture from clothes. When a tumble dryer runs but fails to heat, the issue points to a tripped thermostat or a failed heating element. If the drum will not turn while the motor can be heard running, a snapped drive belt is the likely cause. Machines that stop mid-cycle or refuse to start might have a faulty door switch or a problem with the control board. Condenser models rely on a clean heat exchanger and a functioning pump to move water into the collection container. If the container is empty but the laundry remains damp, the pump or the condenser unit itself may need attention. Noisy running indicates worn support rollers or degraded motor bearings. We travel out to addresses across the area, including places like Moorswater, to repair appliances in customers' homes. During a visit, we look at dryers that run but do not heat, drums that will not turn, and machines that stop mid-cycle or will not start. We also investigate condenser and water container faults, as well as noisy running. Please note that our cooking appliance repairs are electric and induction only, as we do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs, or any gas appliance.

A tumble dryer that turns but stays cold has a problem in the heating circuit. This points to a tripped safety thermostat, a blown thermal fuse, or a failed heating element. Poor airflow from a blocked lint filter can cause the thermostats to trip to prevent overheating. We inspect these components during a visit.

If you can hear the motor running but the drum remains still, the drive belt has snapped or slipped off the motor pulley. Alternatively, a seized jockey wheel or a failed motor capacitor will prevent the drum from turning. A repair involves fitting a new belt or replacing the faulty capacitor to restore movement.

Condenser dryers collect moisture in a container, but leaks occur if the pump fails to move the water up to the drawer. A blocked condenser unit or a buildup of fluff in the internal hoses will also cause water to overflow from the base. We check the pump and clear internal blockages during a repair.
