Know the home, know the fault
Properties along the steep river valley in Looe vary from modern housing situated on the elevated land to the north, to older fishermen's homes near the harbour. These older buildings were built with living spaces on the upper floor and storage areas at ground level. Because the local economy relies heavily on tourism, a large portion of the town consists of holiday homes and guest houses. In rental properties, a tumble dryer might be used by different guests, while machines kept in ground-floor storage spaces need adequate airflow to function correctly. A tumble dryer that runs but fails to heat is a fault that can happen in any setting. This issue is sometimes caused by a tripped thermostat or a failed heating element. When a drum will not turn, the drive belt may have snapped or the motor capacitor might have failed. Condenser models rely on a clean heat exchanger to dry clothes, and if fluff builds up inside the machine, it can stop mid-cycle or refuse to start. Water container faults can also prevent a cycle from finishing, as the appliance senses the tank is full even when it is empty. Noisy running might indicate worn support rollers or a failing tension pulley. Whether a machine is located in a holiday let near the sandy beach or a permanent residence on the Hannafore estate, we repair domestic appliances in customers' homes. During a visit, we look at dryers that run but do not heat, drums that will not turn, and machines that stop mid-cycle or will not start. We also investigate condenser and water container faults, as well as noisy running. We only work on electric appliances and do not repair gas models.

Call 01752 922765A tumble dryer that tumbles without heating usually has a fault in the heating circuit. This might be a blown thermal overload switch, a faulty thermostat, or a broken heating element. In some condenser models, a blocked filter restricts airflow, causing the safety thermostat to trip and cut the heat.
If the motor runs but the drum remains still, the drive belt has likely snapped or slipped off the pulley. When the machine makes a humming noise and fails to turn, the motor capacitor could be at fault. Worn jockey wheels or seized support rollers can also restrict drum movement.
Condenser dryers pump extracted moisture into a water container. If the machine stops mid-cycle with a full tank warning when the container is actually empty, the pump might be blocked with wet fluff. A failed float switch or a faulty pump can also send incorrect signals to the control board.
