Know the home, know the fault

A fire in 1807 destroyed around 180 of the 300 houses standing at the time. A wine cooler installed in an older property might sit in a kitchen with uneven ambient temperatures, especially during the colder months. Chillers rely on a steady external environment to operate efficiently. When a room gets particularly cold, the compressor might struggle to cycle correctly, leading to internal temperature fluctuations that affect the stored bottles. A chiller that will not hold temperature is a standard fault. This happens when the condenser coils at the back become blocked with household dust, restricting airflow and causing the compressor to overheat. Dual-zone models with one zone failing usually point to a broken damper or a faulty temperature sensor that stops cold air from distributing properly between the upper and lower sections. Condensation and misting on the glass door indicate a failing magnetic door seal, allowing warm room air to meet the chilled interior. Fan and control faults also stop the appliance from circulating air, leaving warm spots inside the cabinet. When visiting homes near Haldon Forest, we look at the appliance in its setting to diagnose the issue. We check coolers not holding the set temperature, investigate dual-zone models with one zone failing, and inspect condensation and misting on the door. We also test for fan and control faults to find out why the unit is not chilling. We repair the appliance directly in your home. We do not work on gas appliances.

Misting and condensation on the glass usually mean the door seal has degraded or split. This allows warm room air to enter the cabinet and mix with the chilled air inside. We inspect the magnetic gasket for damage and check the door hinges to see if the door closes flush.

When one zone fails to hold its temperature, the issue is heavily linked to the internal airflow. A broken damper flap might be stuck closed, or a faulty temperature sensor could be sending incorrect readings to the control board. We test the sensors and the fan motors to locate the fault.

A loud vibrating noise is typically caused by a failing fan motor or an issue with the compressor mounting. If the internal circulation fan bearings wear out, the fan will rattle as it spins. We check the fan assemblies and the compressor brackets to find the source of the vibration.
