Know the home, know the fault
This ancient wool settlement is positioned between Newton Abbot and Exeter. A washer dryer provides a single footprint for both washing and drying, which suits kitchens where floor space is at a premium. When a washer dryer stops working, the fault can lie in the washing cycle, the drying system, or a shared component. Drying faults present as clothes remaining damp, cycles that never finish, or a complete lack of heat. This happens when the heater element fails or the condenser chamber becomes blocked with wet lint. Washing faults include the drum not filling, draining, or spinning. Shared parts like the door seal can degrade and cause leaks, while the main control board might display error codes if it detects a problem with the motor or the temperature sensors. Our domestic appliance repair service operates from a Plymouth base. We visit homes across Chudleigh and out towards Chudleigh Knighton to fix washer dryers in situ. During a visit, we look at the water inlet valves, the drain pump, the heating elements, and the control modules to find out why the machine has stopped washing or drying. We also repair other electric appliances, though we do not work on gas cookers or any gas appliance.

Call 01752 922765If the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, the machine might be failing to spin or drain. A blocked pump filter will stop water from leaving the drum, while worn motor brushes or a snapped drive belt will prevent the drum from spinning at high speed. We look at the drain pump and motor components during a visit.
A lack of heat points to a failed drying element or a tripped thermal thermostat. Washer dryers use a separate heating element for the drying phase, located inside a heater bank at the top or back of the drum. If this element burns out, the machine will tumble the clothes but blow cold air over them.
Leaks from the front of the machine indicate a damaged door seal or an improperly secured pump filter. The rubber gasket can tear if it catches on zips or buttons, or it might degrade and lose its watertight grip against the glass. We inspect the seal for holes and check the door hinge alignment to find the leak.
