Know the home, know the fault
Chudleigh is an ancient wool settlement positioned between Exeter and Newton Abbot, located in the Teign Valley near the edge of Dartmoor. In these varied properties, kitchens sometimes feature built-in or combination microwaves to keep worktops clear. When an integrated unit stops working, it is fixed into the cabinetry, making a repair in the home far more practical than trying to extract the heavy appliance. A microwave that runs but fails to heat food is a standard fault. This happens when high voltage components, such as the magnetron or the high voltage capacitor, stop functioning. Combination models use standard heating elements alongside microwave technology, and these elements can burn out over time just like those in a standard oven. Another issue is a turntable that refuses to rotate, which is usually caused by a faulty synchronous motor under the floor of the cavity. Door latches and microswitches also wear out with use. If the door switches fail to register that the door is closed, the control board will prevent the appliance from starting. We travel out to homes in the area, including places like Chudleigh Knighton, to repair domestic appliances. During a visit, we look at built-in and combination models that will not heat or turn. We check door latches, switch faults, controls, displays, and turntables to find out why the appliance is failing. We focus entirely on electric appliances and do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs or any gas appliance at all.

Call 01752 922765This happens when the high voltage components fail. The magnetron generates the microwave energy, and if it stops working, the appliance will sound normal but the food remains cold. We inspect the magnetron, the high voltage capacitor, and the internal fuses to locate the exact fault.
The glass plate sits on a plastic coupler or roller ring, which is turned by a small synchronous motor located under the floor of the microwave. If this motor burns out or its gears strip, the plate will not turn. We look at the motor and the drive coupler to resolve this.
A blank display usually points to a blown main fuse or a failure on the main control board. The internal fuse will blow if there is a fault in the door switches or the high voltage circuit. We check the incoming power supply, the fuses, and the door latch mechanism.
