Know the home, know the fault
In a fast-growing city like Exeter, the housing ranges from historic medieval, Tudor, and Georgian architecture to modern developments. In these busy kitchens, a freestanding electric cooker is a highly practical choice. It combines the hob, grill, and oven in a single unit that fits into various floor plans without needing built-in cabinetry. These appliances develop specific faults as they age. When multiple people share a kitchen, control knobs take heavy wear and the selector switches behind the fascia can fail. If a solid plate or ceramic hob zone stops heating, the element itself might have burned out or the energy regulator could be faulty. Inside the main cavity, a fan oven element can break, leaving the appliance blowing cold air while the thermostat light stays on. Grill elements can blister and split, which will trip the household electrics the moment they are switched on. Door hinges also weaken with heavy use, preventing the seal from holding heat inside. Our visits cover oven and grill heating faults, hob rings or zones that are not working, cookers that trip the electrics, and issues with controls, switches, and doors. Please note that we only repair electric and induction cooking appliances, so we cannot work on gas cookers or dual fuel models.

Call 01752 922765This usually happens when the circular fan element at the back of the cavity has burned out. The fan motor continues to circulate air, and the thermostat light might still turn on, but no heat is produced. Replacing the faulty element restores the heating function. We look at all oven heating faults during a visit.
A cooker will trip the household electrics if there is an earth fault. This happens when a grill element blisters and splits, an oven element fails, or moisture gets into the terminal block. We look at cookers that trip the electrics to test the internal components.
When a single solid plate or ceramic zone stops working, the element itself may have failed. Alternatively, the energy regulator behind the control knob might be broken, preventing power from reaching the ring. We look at hob rings or zones not heating to test the elements and switches. We only repair electric and induction models.
