Homes in Looe

Know the home, know the fault

The properties in Looe range from modern houses on the elevated land to the north, to older fishermen's houses originally built with living quarters upstairs and storage below. The local economy relies heavily on tourism, with much of the settlement given over to holiday homes, guest houses, and hotels. The community extends along a steep river valley down to a sandy beach. In holiday lets or properties where living spaces are on an upper floor, a washer dryer is a practical choice to save space when a separate washing machine and tumble dryer simply will not fit. Combining two functions in one cabinet means these appliances rely on a complex set of components to wash and dry your laundry. Drying faults include cycles that never finish, clothes remaining damp, or a complete lack of heat. These issues can stem from a blocked condenser chamber, a failed heater element, or a faulty fan motor. On the washing side, the machine might stop filling with water, fail to drain, or refuse to spin. Leaks can develop from a degraded door seal, while control faults might display as error codes on the front panel or cause the machine to stop mid-cycle. When visiting properties around the Sunrising housing estate or other parts of the area, we look at the specific symptoms your appliance is showing. We investigate drying failures, washing faults, leaks, door seal problems, and electronic issues directly in your home. We repair electric washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, refrigeration, and electric cooking equipment, but we do not work on gas cookers, gas hobs, or any gas appliance.

This usually happens when the drying heater is working but the condenser system is failing to remove moisture from the drum. The condenser chamber can become blocked with lint over time, or the fan motor might fail to circulate air. We inspect the condenser and fan to identify the problem.

A machine will refuse to spin if it cannot drain the water from the drum first. This is a built-in safety feature. A blocked pump filter, a kinked drain hose, or a faulty drain pump can prevent the water from escaping. Motor brush wear can also stop the drum turning.

Front leaks are heavily associated with the rubber door seal. The seal can degrade, split, or be punctured by sharp objects left in pockets. Water can also escape if the door hinges drop, preventing the glass from pressing tightly against the rubber. We check the seal and door alignment.
