Know the home, know the fault
Properties along the steep-sided valley that flows down to the sandy beach range from older fishermen's houses to modern builds on the higher ground to the north. In those historic harbour properties, living quarters were built upstairs with a storage area at ground level below for boats and fishing tackle, meaning kitchens and their appliances are elevated. The local economy relies heavily on tourism, so many properties operate as holiday homes, guest houses and hotels. A dishwasher in a holiday let works hard, dealing with varying loading habits and different detergents from rotating guests, which can take a toll on the machine over time. When a machine fails to drain, it leaves dirty water sitting in the base. This happens when filters become blocked with food debris or if the drain pump fails. Poor cleaning results are another issue, usually pointing to blocked spray arms that cannot rotate freely or dispense water at the correct pressure. If dishes come out wet and cold, the heating element or its associated thermostats have likely failed. Leaks can develop from worn door seals or split internal hoses, while a machine that refuses to start might be displaying an error code pointing to a faulty control board or a broken door latch. Whether a repair is needed at a property near the harbour or a modern house on the Sunrising housing estate, we repair dishwashers in customers' homes. We look at draining faults and water left in the base, poor cleaning results, spray arm problems and heating faults where dishes are left wet. Our visits also cover leaks, door seal problems, error codes and machines that will not start. We do not work on gas appliances.

Call 01752 922765Water left in the base means the machine has failed to drain. This happens when the filters are blocked with food debris, the drain hose is kinked, or the drain pump has failed. We look at draining faults during a visit to determine why the water cannot escape.
If your dishes are wet and cold at the end of a cycle, the machine has a heating fault. The heating element might have failed, or a thermostat could be preventing the water from reaching the correct temperature. Without heat, the water cannot evaporate during the drying phase.
Spray arms rely on water pressure to rotate. If the small holes in the arms become blocked with seeds or hard debris, the pressure drops and they stop spinning. A failing wash motor can also cause low pressure, leading to poor cleaning results and food left on plates.
