Know the home, know the fault

Properties built during the eighteenth century as part of a planned settlement sit alongside later housing added when workers from the nearby dockyard moved across the tidal estuary. Located on a peninsula in southeast Cornwall, the town has a population of around seven thousand four hundred and forty-four. In older properties with compact kitchens, a wine cooler is sometimes fitted into a tight under-counter space, which can restrict the airflow needed for the appliance to run efficiently. When ventilation is limited, the compressor has to work harder to disperse heat, which can lead to the cabinet failing to hold its set temperature. Dual-zone models rely on separate sensors, control boards and fans to maintain different climates for red and white wines. A failure in one of these components will leave one zone too warm while the other functions normally. Another issue with chillers is condensation or misting on the glass door. This usually points to a degraded door seal letting ambient room air meet the chilled interior, though it can also be caused by internal fan faults failing to circulate the cold air properly. We look at coolers not holding the set temperature, dual-zone models with one zone failing, misting on the door, and fan or control faults. We carry out the repair work directly in your home. We also cover nearby places like Millbrook and Saltash.

Condensation usually happens when warm room air enters the chilled cabinet. This is frequently caused by a damaged or worn door seal that no longer shuts tightly. It can also happen if the internal circulation fan fails, allowing moisture to settle on the glass rather than being moved through the system.

Dual-zone coolers use separate thermostats and fans to manage the temperature in each section. If one zone is failing to stay cool, the issue is usually isolated to that specific compartment. A faulty temperature sensor, a broken circulation fan, or a control board error can prevent that zone from cooling.

A compressor will run continuously if the appliance struggles to reach the set temperature. This happens if the condenser coils at the back are blocked by dust, restricting airflow. It can also be caused by a faulty thermostat failing to signal that the correct temperature has been reached.
