Know the home, know the fault
Burrell House was built in 1621 and has a wing dated 1636. The town expanded in the nineteen nineties with the addition of the large new estate Latchbrook, and again with the more recent building of another housing area, Pillmere. Older properties, such as the grade two listed cottage situated on Culver Road, might have different plumbing arrangements compared to a modern build. A washing machine requires a cold water feed and a waste pipe, and adapting these connections in an older home can mean hoses are routed through tight spaces or extended to reach the appliance. When a washing machine fails to drain, the issue is usually found around the pump area, where coins or debris block the filter. If the machine will not spin, it might be detecting an unbalanced load, or the motor carbon brushes could be worn down. Leaks can develop from degraded door seals, split internal hoses, or a failing pump housing. A door that will not open or close points to a faulty interlock mechanism or a broken handle. Excessive vibration on spin and noisy drums indicate worn bearings or damaged suspension legs. Machines that trip the electrics or display error codes require an inspection of the heating element and the main control board. During a visit, we carry out a diagnosis of draining, spinning, filling and heating faults in your home. We look at the door locks, inspect the pump area for blockages, and check the drum for signs of wear. Our domestic appliance repair service covers washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, and electric cooking equipment, though we do not work on gas appliances.

Call 01752 922765A machine that stops while full of water is usually failing to drain. The main control board pauses the cycle because it cannot empty the drum to start the spin phase. This happens when coins, hair or lint block the pump filter, or if the drain pump itself has failed. We can inspect the pump area to find the exact fault.
The door interlock mechanism is designed to keep the door shut while the drum is moving or filled with water. If the machine has not drained completely, the lock will stay engaged. Alternatively, the interlock itself might have a mechanical fault, or the door handle could be broken. We diagnose door locks and doors that will not open or close.
Excessive vibration on spin is a sign that the drum is struggling to balance the load, or that internal components are wearing out. Heavy items like towels can clump together, throwing the drum off balance. If the vibration is accompanied by a loud rumbling noise, the drum bearings or the suspension legs supporting the tub may need to be replaced.
